Florida-based Silver Airways is doubling down on its Tampa (TPA) to Charleston (CHS) route with additional frequencies and going head-on against newly launched Breeze Airways with low fares.
Silver Airways launched flights from Tampa, Florida to Charleston, South Carolina in November 2020. Currently, the carrier is operating twice-weekly services between Tampa and Charleston on Mondays and Fridays.
Just over a week ago, Breeze Airways inaugurated flights starting with a 4x weekly Tampa to Charleston route. Breeze is initially pricing its flights at $39 one way. This has seemingly elicited a response from Silver Airways.
On June 16, 2021, Silver will expand its Tampa-Charleston services by introducing a third weekly frequency that operates on Wednesdays. For this additional frequency in June, Silver is offering one-way prices as low as $38.99 with its Escape Fares - the most restrictive but cheapest fare. Similarly, Breeze Airways is offering $39.00 one-way tickets for certain days on flights between Tampa and Charleston.
From July 10, 2021, Silver will continue to grow its Tampa to Charleston route with a fourth weekly frequency operating on Saturdays. On most days in July, Silver is offering $38.99 one-way tickets to match Breeze Airways' $39 fares.

These two expanding airlines will compete head-on to capture customers with their low $39 fares. Breeze has scheduled its Tampa-Charleston flights on Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Friday while Silver will operate its flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
As of now, Silver Airways plans to revert Tampa to Charleston back to a twice-weekly frequency on Labor Day - September 6, 2021.
Silver Airways may not be the only airline being pressured by Breeze Airways' new flights and low fares. United Airlines is offering $49 one-way fares on its Pittsburgh to Charleston route which will also be operated by Breeze starting next month.
