Breeze Airways, David Neeleman's latest startup airline, has finally taken off with passenger flights starting with its Tampa (TPA) to Charleston (CHS) route.

In early 2020, Breeze Airways revealed its official name and branding. After receiving permission from the Department of Transportation and its Air Carrier's Certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration, Breeze quickly put its first routes on sale. Flights went on sale last Friday and the inaugural Tampa to Charleston flight sold out within the first hour.

Breeze Airways' inaugural flight this morning, operated with flight number MX1, departed Tampa at 10:44 AM and landed in Charleston at 11:49 AM. This flight was operated by one of Breeze's Embraer 195s registered as N190BZ

Later this afternoon, Breeze will commence its second route - Charleston to Hartford (BDL). Flight MX2 will depart Charleston at 1:25 PM and arrive in Hartford at 3:25 PM.

So far, Breeze Airways has announced a total of 39 routes covering 16 cities. The carrier will primarily focus on New Orleans (MSY), Norfolk (ORF), Charleston, and Tampa.

Tomorrow, Breeze Airways will commence flights to Louisville (SDF) with flights from Tampa and Charleston. Breeze will gradually expand its presence westward with flights to Tulsa starting in the first week of June.

These current routes, all of which are under two hours, will operate with Breeze's Embraer 190 and 195 aircraft. This fall, Breeze will receive its first Airbus A220-300 which will feature a premium cabin called "Nicest" and fly on routes over two hours.

Congratulations to Breeze Airways and David Neeleman on this latest venture!
