Air France has revealed plans to resume flights to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) in Texas next year and even beef up capacity.

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck the aviation industry, long-haul routes across the world were forced to suspend as airlines struggled to cut costs and conserve cash. One of these routes was Air France's seasonal Paris (CDG) to Dallas/Fort Worth flight, which just (re)inaugurated in March 2019. This marked a resumption of Air France's service at DFW after originally ending Paris to Dallas/Fort Worth flights in the early 2000s.

Air France's seasonal
service to DFW operated from the end of March through October - the IATA Summer season. After the season ended, the carrier was slated to resume Dallas/Fort Worth in March 2020, but the pandemic struck. Air France suspended its CDG-DFW route through 2020 and extended the suspension through 2021. However, the French carrier isn't giving up on flying to Dallas/Fort Worth.

According to the carrier's bookings, Air France tentatively plans to resume flights to Dallas/Fort Worth on March 27, 2022. The airline has scheduled 5x weekly flights and will fly the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner instead of the Airbus A330-200 previously used in 2019.

Air France's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners feature a three-class cabin consisting of 30 lie-flat and direct aisle access Business Class seats, 21 Premium Economy Class seats, and 225 Economy Class seats. This represents a net increase of 52 seats compared to their Airbus A330-200s.

On top of scheduling a larger aircraft, Air France intends to resume Dallas/Fort Worth initially with a 5x weekly flight. In contrast, Air France's 2019 schedule had CDG-DFW operating 3x weekly from March 31 to July 1, 5x weekly from July 1 to September 1, and 3x weekly from September 1 to October 25. Assuming Air France sticks with the current schedule, they will offer a notable increase in the number of flights to Dallas/Fort Worth.

While the aviation industry continues to recover and more people are flying again, demand may not fully recover to warrant Air France's tentative growth in Dallas/Fort Worth. This schedule is highly likely subject to change as the resumption approaches. Nonetheless, it's encouraging Air France is devoted to serving DFW.
