Low-cost carrier Allegiant Air has revealed another expansion with several new destinations, including Minneapolis, Minnesota (MSP) and Washington-Dulles, Virginia (IAD).

These two destinations demonstrate Allegiant's latest growth into the more "primary" and "larger" airports. More critically, MSP and IAD are major hubs for Delta Air Lines and United Airlines respectively.

Starting October 2021, Allegiant will add the following flights to Minneapolis:

  • 2x weekly Asheville (AVL)
  • 2x weekly Punta Gorda (PGD)
  • 2x weekly West Palm Beach (PBI)

Allegiant has also scheduled two single Los Angeles (LAX) to MSP flights in November.

Delta Air Lines serves the MSP-PBI route seasonally while AVL remains unserved from Minneapolis. Sun Country will launch the MSP to Punta Gorda route at the end of 2021.

At the end of this year, Allegiant Air will launch flights to Washington-Dulles from two destinations, both of which are already served by United Airlines:

  • 2x weekly Jacksonville (JAX) starting November 19
  • 2x weekly Sarasota (SRQ) starting December 18

Allegiant Air continues to dive into its competitor's hubs and the primary airports serving larger cities. Recently, Allegiant Air added flights to American and Southwest's Phoenix-Sky Harbor (PHX) hub.

In this expansion, Allegiant Air is adding flights to Amarillo, Texas (AMA), and Melbourne, Florida (MLB) along with several new routes out of its new Austin base.
