In July, Qatar Airways will expand its presence in the United States by increasing flights to both Los Angeles (LAX) and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) - two key hubs for the Oneworld Alliance.
Qatar Airways is currently operating daily flights between Doha (DOH) and Los Angeles with the Airbus A350-1000. This current flight (QR739) departs Doha at 7:50 AM and arrives in Los Angeles at 2:00 PM. The return flight (QR740) departs Los Angeles at 4:00 PM and arrives in Doha at 5:35 PM the next day.
From July 15, 2021, Qatar Airways will double its flights to Los Angeles with the addition of a second daily flight - also operated with the Airbus A350-1000:
- QR741 - Depart Doha at 1:15 AM arrive in Los Angeles at 7:25 AM
- QR742 - Depart Los Angeles at 2:55 PM arrive in Doha at 4:30 PM (next day)
The existing daily Los Angeles to Doha flight (QR740) will see a slight change in departure time from 4:00 PM to 4:55 PM.
Qatar Airways' decision to increase Los Angeles flights comes as the two other major "Middle East 3" carriers - Emirates and Etihad - restructure their Los Angeles flights. This past week, Emirates announced it would restore Airbus A380 service on its Dubai to Los Angeles route, which begins on July 1. Earlier this month, it was reported that Etihad appears to have permanently axed its Abu Dhabi to Los Angeles flights. Qatar Airways could be increasing capacity to compete against Emirates' A380 or to fill in for Etihad's departure.
Or, Qatar Airways is simply increasing Los Angeles flights to meet the recovery of air travel demand.

Compared to Emirates, Qatar Airways will have the advantage on the West Coast thanks to Oneworld partners Alaska Airlines and American Airlines. Qatar codeshares with several of American's routes from Los Angeles, which can offer customers seamless connecting opportunities. Alaska and Qatar are in the process of receiving government approval for a codeshare agreement.
Qatar Airways Adds More Dallas/Fort Worth Flights
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Qatar Airways operated a daily flight between Doha and Dallas/Fort Worth. During the first months of the pandemic, Qatar was one of the only foreign airlines to maintain service to DFW. A year later in March 2021, Qatar increased its Doha to DFW flights from daily to 10x weekly.
Qatar Airways is now increasing DFW flights again. From July 11, Qatar will add two more weekly frequencies which increases DFW flights from 10x weekly to 12x weekly. DFW will see two passenger Qatar flights every day except Thursday and Friday.
Qatar Airways continues to grow in the United States and exceed pre-COVID levels of capacity. As previously announced, their two new destinations - San Francisco and Seattle - will soon be operating daily in July. Qatar has resumed flights to Atlanta and is planning the restoration of daily frequencies to other destinations.
